URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) has received a $25,000 donation from Earthrise Energy to strengthen its fight against hunger in Coles County. The funds will support EIF’s Foodmobile program, which delivers nutritious groceries to rural and underserved communities across eastern Illinois.
This donation comes at a critical time as food insecurity continues to affect over 143,000 people in the region. In Coles County alone, at least one in six residents struggle with consistent access to food. The Foodmobile program plays a key role in reaching these vulnerable populations by visiting nearly 100 communities each month.
“This generous gift from Earthrise Energy empowers us to bring more healthy groceries to our neighbors in Coles County, where we consistently see the highest rate of hunger in our service area,” said Kelly Daly, President & CEO of Eastern Illinois Foodbank. “Community support like this is what makes it possible for us to meet a historic need and fulfill our mission of alleviating hunger and nourishing stronger communities.”
Earthrise Energy made the donation through its RISE Grant program. “Earthrise Energy is proud to support the Eastern Illinois Foodbank in their efforts to increase access to nutritious food,” said Talya Tavor, Director of Community Engagement. “With the help of this grant, the Foodbank can enhance its Foodmobile program and reach even more communities in need.”
EIF serves as the primary food source for pantries, agencies, and programs across a 21-county region. To learn more or contribute, visit www.eifoodbank.org.
