Additionally, the company is committed to enhancing the lives of its employees, ensuring that the care put into its food extends to the people behind the counter.
At the helm of this healthy food option is David Grossman, President and CEO, who has set out to build “A More Mindful Burger” – the company’s slogan. He became the chain’s owner in 2020. Grossman says there is something for everyone at Epic Burger. “People can come every day and eat something different. You can get a grilled chicken sandwich one day a double cheeseburger another day, a delicious turkey burger the next day, then some tenders or our incredible honey hot chicken sandwich. We offer a great variety and something for everyone and we even offer gluten-free buns.”
Epic Burger has been serving only quality products. Their beef and chicken are all Halal certified. None of their meats have any antibiotics or hormones or fillers. Their buns are baked daily from the Turano bread Company, their bacon is nitrate free, eggs are cage free, and they try to source all of their products locally.
Grossman’s leadership style prioritizes employees and customers alike. He trains employees to connect with guests at five touchpoints—from greeting them at the door to thanking them as they leave. This focus on customer satisfaction, combined with a commitment to promoting from within, has led to inspiring success stories, such as employees rising to management roles within the company.
A Mission Beyond Burgers
Grossman’s dedication extends beyond business. Following the tragic loss of his daughter Hallie in 2023, he founded The Hallie225 Foundation, which provides scholarships to underprivileged students. Epic Burger is a proud partner of the foundation, reflecting its commitment to community involvement.
“She loved helping the underdog,” Grossman said of his daughter. “This foundation is a way to honor her and continue her legacy of giving back.”
The Future of Epic Burger
While Champaign is the restaurant’s latest location, Grossman envisions expanding the brand through franchising. For more information and the Epic Burger menu, visit here.
