CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — As Daylight Saving Time comes to an end this weekend, the Champaign Fire Department is reminding residents to set their clocks back one hour and take a few extra minutes to check their home safety devices.
The official time change occurs at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, when clocks are set back one hour, marking the return to Standard Time. Fire officials say the biannual time change is also a perfect opportunity to inspect smoke and carbon monoxide alarms throughout the home.
The department encourages residents to replace any alarms that are more than 10 years old, ensure all devices are in working order, and review family home escape plans so everyone knows how to get out safely in case of fire.
“Change your clocks. Check your alarms. Save a life,” the department’s seasonal safety campaign urges.
