CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department swiftly responded to a residential fire Thursday afternoon in the 2500 block of Campbell Drive. The fire, which broke out at approximately 2:08 p.m., was quickly brought under control by responding crews.

Firefighters arrived on the scene following a call from a resident reporting smoke and flames in the home. Upon arrival, crews observed moderate smoke emerging from the front door of the single-story house. Multiple hose lines were deployed, and firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, successfully extinguishing the fire that originated in the kitchen area.

Fortunately, there were no injuries to residents or firefighters. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with fire investigators remaining on scene to determine what sparked the blaze.
