CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois Governor JB Pritzker ordered all flags in the state of Illinois lowered in honor of Illinois State Trooper Corey Thompsen, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

The crash last Friday claimed the life of the 28-year-old trooper, who was on patrol on his motorcycle when he was struck by a truck in Champaign County. A driver who was driving on an expired license hit Thompsen at County Road 1300 East and Leverett Road in northern Champaign County. Thompsen was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Thompsen is survived by his wife, siblings, and parents.
