CENTRAL ILLINOIS, IL (Chambana Today) – A flood watch is in effect for several Central Illinois counties due to the potential for flooding caused by excessive rainfall, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The flood watch was issued at 1:45 p.m. Saturday and will remainNews in place until 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Counties under the watch include Christian, DeWitt, Logan, Macon, McLean, Menard, Piatt, Sangamon, Champaign, Vermilion, and Morgan.

Heavy rain may lead to excessive runoff, which could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, low-lying areas, and locations with poor drainage. Urban areas may also be at risk.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and be prepared to act if flood warnings are issued. Those in flood-prone areas should have an emergency plan in place.
