DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – On Wednesday evening at around 6:30 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department’s Problem-Oriented Policing Unit were patrolling in the Holiday Hills neighborhood and tried to make contact with two subjects walking at the intersection of Westview and Holiday Drive.
The subjects ran from the police officers, resulting in a brief foot chase that ended with both subjects being taken into custody. One subject was identified as 18-year-old Dakiy Keys of Danville, while the other was a 17-year-old juvenile. A Danville PD press release shared that through investigation, witness information, and the use of Danville Police Department K9, officers located two firearms. One firearm was defaced, with the serial number scratched off, while the other was learned to be stolen.
The 18-year-old Keys was taken to the Vermilion County jail and booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, being under the age of 21, Possession of Ammunition without a FOID Card, and Defacing Identification Marks on a Firearm. The 17-year-old juvenile was transported to Vermilion County Juvenile Detention Center and held after being booked on charges of Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, being under the age of 21.
