GIBSON CITY, IL (Chambana Today) – The Gibson City Police Department is investigating a teacher in the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley (GCMS) School District following a complaint lodged by parents in the district. The police department is looking into allegations that a teacher sent inappropriate messages to students, but nothing has been confirmed, and the investigation is ongoing.
In response to the investigation, the GCMS School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the GCMS Board Room. The board is expected to enter a closed session to handle the matter.
GCMS Superintendent Jeremy Darnell assured the community that the safety of students remains the district’s top priority. “Our first and main priority is the safety and well-being of our students. And second to that is the safety and well-being of our staff and our facilities,” said Darnell. “We take any concerns that are brought to us very, very seriously.”
