CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A recent health inspection at Lincolnshire Fields Country Club, located at 2000 Byrneburk Drive in Champaign, has led to the posting of a yellow placard, after more than 10 food safety violations were discovered.

Health officials found 12 risk factor violations, including one repeat issue. Among the problems: improper food storage, poor handwashing practices, and cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat foods. In one case, raw shrimp thawing in a sanitizer sink splashed into nearby vegetables.

Food temperature issues were also a concern — several items were held above the safe limit of 41 degrees, and a cooler was condemned on-site. Some prepared foods were also kept past their 7-day use period, including soups, sauces, and dressings.

The club must show proof that the cooler has been repaired by August 5, and a follow-up inspection will happen within 10 business days. If issues persist, the facility risks closure and a red placard.

This marks the second yellow placard for the country club this year — the first was issued in May for failing to have a certified food protection manager.
