CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – For high school students interested in pursuing journalism, hands-on experience is invaluable. One lucky student in the Champaign-Urbana area will get the chance to learn about online newswriting, as well as radio broadcast news. Your high school student will spend a half-day with Elizabeth Hess, the Editor-in-Chief of Chambana Today, to see the inner workings of an online news organization.
The opportunity was part of a special event aimed at introducing young, aspiring journalists to the fast-paced world of news writing and multimedia reporting. The student will spend the morning or afternoon learning about everything from writing news stories to recording live updates. Throughout the day, the student will learn the process of crafting stories, interviewing sources, and collaborating with the team at Chambana Today. The student will even get to write and record a demo newscast for their personal archives.
“I love working with young journalists,” Hess said. “It’s inspiring to see students who are passionate about journalism and eager to learn. Giving them a glimpse of how we operate at Chambana Today helps them understand the real-world applications of their writing and communication skills.”
