SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is once again inviting Illinoisans to show off their creative side with the return of its popular photo contest. The second annual “Got Photos? Snap, Enter, Vote!” competition is now open through June 20, offering residents a chance to highlight how transportation shapes and connects communities across the state.

“Countless modes of transportation are available throughout the entire state, and we want the public to show us the positive impact they are having on your community,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Gia Biagi. “It could be a picture of your favorite trail you bike or hike, a bridge, road, train, bus, airplane or waterway. Anything that keeps Illinois moving, we’d love to see your photography skills at work.”

Eligible photo subjects include highways, bridges, biking and walking paths, work zones, transit stations, airports, and waterways—anything that plays a role in moving people or goods across Illinois. Submissions must be original and digital, sent via email to DOT.PhotoContest@Illinois.gov.

A panel of IDOT staff will select three finalists based on creativity, visual appeal, and community impact. The public will then vote online for the winning image, which will be featured as IDOT’s Facebook banner for a full month. Winners will also receive a certificate of recognition and be spotlighted in a statewide announcement on IDOT’s website.

Cell phone photos are encouraged, and no professional experience is necessary. However, safety is a top priority—photos taken while driving or from railroad property will be disqualified.

Full contest rules and details are available at idot.illinois.gov.
