CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb has been named to the coaching staff for the 2025 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, marking his fifth assignment with USA Baseball.
Hartleb, the winningest coach in Illinois baseball history with 597 career wins, will serve as the bench and hitting coach for Team Stripes during the Stars vs. Stripes series, set for June 29 to July 3 across North Carolina. Team Stripes, led by manager Johnny Hernandez, will also include coaches LaTroy Hawkins, Michael Choice, Dave Tollett, Butch Chaffin, and Joe McGowan.
Hartleb’s previous national team experience includes coaching roles with the Collegiate National Team (2021) and the National Team Development Program in 2014, 2016, and 2023. After Training Camp, Team Stripes will play the Appalachian League Select Team on July 4 in Kannapolis, North Carolina, while Team Stars heads to Japan for the USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series from July 8–13.
