SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois Arts Council (IAC) has officially released guidelines and opened applications for the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Creative Projects Grant (CPG), an initiative aimed at supporting the state’s thriving creative sector. The grant offers up to $12,000 in funding for art projects led by Illinois artists, not-for-profit organizations, municipal entities, and institutions of higher education.
Governor JB Pritzker praised the grant as a vital tool in continuing Illinois’ legacy as a global arts destination. “The Creative Projects Grant is an opportunity to further develop that creative ecosystem, support talented artists of all backgrounds, and enrich communities across the state,” Pritzker said.
CPG replaces the previous Creative Catalyst Grant and absorbs the Folk Arts Mentorship program, allowing artists working in ethnic, folk, and traditional art forms to apply for both mentorship and project-based funding.
“This grant represents a significant evolution in IAC’s commitment to fostering creativity and community engagement,” said Nora Daley, IAC Board Chair. “Empowering artists and arts organizations is essential for cultivating a vibrant cultural identity in Illinois.”
According to IAC Executive Director Joshua Davis-Ruperto, the program aims to be more responsive to artist and organizational needs by simplifying access and broadening eligibility. “This grant provides the resources artists need to bring their visions to life,” he said.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until each region’s allocated funds are exhausted. Artists are encouraged to check the IAC website to ensure availability in their area and must submit applications at least eight weeks before the proposed project start date.
Additional support for applicants includes a pre-recorded informational webinar and a series of informal “Drop-In” Q&A sessions via WebEx. No registration is required for the drop-ins.
