CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – With Tuesday’s commitment from Serbian guard Mihailo Petrovic, the Illini now have four players from the Balkans set to join the roster for the 2025-26 season — a sign of the program’s expanding international appeal.
Petrovic, a 22-year-old standout from Mega Superbet, is averaging 14.3 points, 7.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds this season, including a 28-point, 13-assist double-double in a recent win over Cibona. He joins towering Croatian bigs Tomislav and Zvonimir Ivisic, and Montenegrin forward David Mirkovic, all of whom developed in the Adriatic League.
Illinois has previously featured international talent like Kasparas Jakucionis (Lithuania) and Will Riley (Canada), both likely one-and-done NBA Draft picks, along with past European imports from Slovenia, Belgium, and more.
