CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois head men’s basketball coach Brad Underwood announced Thursday the addition of Camryn Crocker to the Fighting Illini staff as an assistant coach. Crocker, a former standout at the University of Pennsylvania, brings a diverse coaching background and a decade of experience across multiple levels of basketball.

Camryn Crocker is a dynamic coach who will fit perfectly into the Illinois family,” said Underwood. “He has experience from coast to coast, with an outstanding defensive mind, elite teaching skills, and a talent for building strong relationships. His understanding of the modern game will bring fresh and innovative ideas to our program.”

Crocker most recently served as an assistant coach at Colgate, where he helped lead the Raiders to back-to-back Patriot League titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. During his time there, Colgate set a school record with 26 wins and produced two Patriot League Players of the Year.

Before Colgate, Crocker spent three seasons at Stanford as director of player development. The Cardinals posted a 20-win season in 2019-20 and ranked seventh nationally in defense, according to KenPom. The program also produced four NBA players during his tenure.

A Cypress, California native, Crocker played four years at Penn, serving as team captain his senior season. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education from the Ivy League institution.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to join the Fighting Illini family,” said Crocker. “This program has incredible momentum, and I’m eager to contribute to its continued success and connect with the players, staff, and community.”
