CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois has secured the No. 7 seed in the 2025 Big Ten Tournament and will begin its postseason on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., facing the winner of the Round 1 matchup between 10th-seeded Ohio State and 15th-seeded Iowa. The game will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Illinois enters the tournament as the defending Big Ten Tournament champion, having claimed the title in 2024 and 2021 under head coach Brad Underwood. The Illini are seeking their third conference tournament crown in four years.
Illinois is the only program to finish with a winning Big Ten record in each of the last six years, tied with Purdue for the most wins in league play during this stretch (81). Illinois heads into the Big Ten Tournament with a 20-11 overall record, having won three consecutive games to close out the regular season. Illinois is one of just four teams in the country to record 20-win regular seasons in each of the last six years, alongside Gonzaga, Houston, and San Diego State.
