CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois football celebrated a 21-7 victory over Michigan Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd at Memorial Stadium. The game, which took place 100 years and one day after Red Grange’s six-touchdown performance against Michigan, moved the team’s record to 6-1 on the season.
Luke Altmyer threw for a touchdown and ran for another, while Tanner Arkin caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Altmyer in the second quarter.
The Illini wore 1924 throwback uniforms to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Red Grange’s six-touchdown performance against Michigan on the day Memorial Stadium was dedicated. Illinois beat Michigan for the first time since 2009. The Illini had lost six straight to the Wolverines.
