CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois football overcame Purdue in overtime, 50-49, tonight to claim the Cannon Trophy and achieve a 5-1 record on the season.

Illinois Quarterback Luke Altmyer threw for 379 yards and celebrated four total touchdowns achieving 20-for-34 on his pass attempts. Wide Receiver Pat Bryant collected 104 receiving yards on his four catches, while fellow receiver Zakhari Franklin reached his first touchdown for the team.

No. 23 Illinois hosts No. 24 Michigan next week at Memorial Stadium. The sold-out match-up marks the Illini’s Rededication Game, which will kick off October 19 at 2:30 p.m.
