CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois men’s basketball head coach Brad Underwood, and Illinois women’s head coach Shauna Green, held their first media sessions previewing their upcoming seasons.
The women’s team comes off a season that ended with a WBIT Championship trophy. From that squad, three fifth-year players and two seniors return to the team this season.
Illinois men’s basketball team had a lot of turnover in the off season, with just two scholarship players returning from the 2024 Big Ten Tournament Champion roster. Head coach Brad Underwood and his staff spent the offseason recruiting through the portal as well as at the high school level. Underwood was able to sign 2024 Mr. Illinois Basketball Morez Johnson.
When talking about his talented commit, Underwood says, “Morez is a guy that we have not had in our program. He’s an elite athlete getting in and out of screens. You can just throw it up and he can go get it just about anywhere.”
Both men and women’s teams open their pre-season play at the State Farm Center in November.
