CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A release from KURU footwear shared that Illinois is the top state for trick-or-treating in the country.

The findings were based on a number of factors, including walkability, the pedestrian death rate, youth population, and expected forecast.

Illinois had a walkability score of 77/100, a pedestrian death rate of 1.67 per 100 thousand people, a youth population of 21.2 percent, and an expected forecast of 51 degrees.

“Illinois claims the top spot thanks to its unbeatable walkability, leading the list with a Walk Score of 77. Families here enjoy crisp Halloween nights averaging 51°F and a steady search interest in trick-or-treating. But Illinois also reports the highest pedestrian death rate in the top 10, making caution from both drivers and trick-or-treaters essential for a safe night,” KURU’s release said.

The Midwest appears to be good for Halloween, as the top five is rounded out by Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Utah. Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, and Minnesota are also in the top ten.
