SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) is hosting its inaugural all-women recruitment event, “Meet the Women in ISP: A Career Exploration,” on Tuesday, March 18. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield. The initiative seeks to address the underrepresentation of women in law enforcement, with data from the U.S. Department of Justice showing that women make-up only 14% of full-time sworn officers and 11% of first-line supervisors in local police departments.

ISP is committed to increasing the number of women in its ranks and offers attendees a chance to explore various law enforcement specialties, meet experienced women in the force, and discuss opportunities within the department. One of the event’s highlights will be an exclusive interview session with ISP’s First Deputy Director, Rebecca Hooks, who will be available from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

First Deputy Director Hooks brings over 23 years of experience in law enforcement, having worked in patrol, crime scene investigations, and currently overseeing more than 1,800 sworn officers and 950 civilian employees. She is the first woman to hold the position of First Deputy Director at ISP.

The event invites all interested individuals to learn about the critical work being done by women in law enforcement, network with current officers, and consider a career in public service.
