PESOTUM, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 7 Commander Heather Apperson has announced that Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) patrols will take place in Macon and Vermilion counties throughout July. These patrols target impaired driving and violations related to illegal alcohol and drug use, unsafe driving behaviors, and other traffic violations.
Officers will be on alert for signs of impaired driving, license violations, open container infractions, seatbelt and child restraint misuse, and distracted driving. The initiative underscores ISP’s zero tolerance policy toward impaired driving, a factor in over 47% of fatal crashes in Illinois. Nationally, an alcohol-related traffic death occurs every 39 minutes.
The ACE patrols are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation to enhance road safety and reduce DUI-related incidents.
