CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois State Police, family, and friends joined together on Sunday to honor fallen Illinois State Trooper Corey Thompson. Following the service, the funeral procession traveled to Patterson Cemetery in St. Joseph. Illinois State Police officers from all across the state attended to mourn Thompsen together.
According to ISP, Thompsen began his career in law enforcement in 2018. In 2022, he completed ISP’s motorcycle certification course and in 2023 he joined ISP’s Special Operations Group. Their focus was on making the roadways safer and reducing speeding, driving under the influence, and distracted driving.
Thompsen was killed in the line of duty on October 18 after being hit by a vehicle in Champaign County. He was 28-years-old and is survived by his wife, parents, and brothers.
