Urbana Township – On May 30, 2024, at approximately 5:15 a.m., the Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force,
with the assistance of the Champaign County METRO SWAT team, executed a search warrant at 67 Northwood Drive,
Urbana Township, after Sheriff’s Deputies received information that Shance Dalton, 18 years of age and a convicted
felon, was in possession of multiple firearms.
Champaign County Street Crimes Task Force members conducted a search of the residence and located two
handguns that were modified to be fully automatic. Task Force members also located two Armalite (AR) style pistols
and a cache of ammunition. Two of the firearms were reported stolen, one to a local agency and the other reported
stolen from another state.
At the conclusion of this investigation, Shance Dalton was transported to the Champaign County Jail where he was
charged with being a felon in possession of a machine gun, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a stolen
firearm.

Crime Stoppers will pay cash rewards of $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest in any homicide case, $2,500 for tips leading to an
arrest in a felony crime involving a firearm, and up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for any
other crime.
