CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Construction is set to begin Thursday, May 8 on the Garden Hills Phase 3 Project in Champaign. The initial phase will include tree trimming, followed by full road closures for demolition and infrastructure improvements.

Starting Monday, May 12, Joanne Lane will be completely closed to vehicular traffic from the south leg of the Paula Drive/Joanne Lane intersection through the curve where Joanne Lane becomes an east-west street near 1509 Joanne Lane.

Residents living in this segment will temporarily lose driveway access during construction. While on-street parking will be available outside the construction zone, vehicles will not be allowed within the work area. Pedestrian access to homes will remain open throughout the process. The project timeline is dependent on weather conditions and may be delayed by inclement weather. City officials note that additional closures will be announced as the phased project continues.

The Garden Hills infrastructure project is part of a multi-year improvement plan focused on stormwater management, road upgrades, and neighborhood revitalization.
