SAVOY, IL (Chambana Today) – Golfers, Illini fans, and community champions are invited to tee off for a cause at the 36th Annual Kendall Gill Golf Benefit on Monday, July 14, at the University of Illinois Golf Course in Savoy.
Hosted by former Illini and NBA standout Kendall Gill, this cherished tradition supports Cunningham Children’s Home, a local nonprofit providing therapeutic care and support to youth facing serious emotional and behavioral challenges.
“It means a lot for me to still be involved in the community here in Champaign-Urbana,” said Gill. “It makes me proud to come back to see all of the people who return each year. Some golfers have been here 35 years straight.”
This year’s event will feature appearances by Illini men’s basketball head coach Brad Underwood and women’s head coach Shauna Green, who will join Gill for a brief program prior to each shotgun start.
Participants can expect:
- A challenging round of golf
- Networking with local leaders and sports figures
- A chance to give back to a meaningful cause
- Opportunities to donate raffle items or explore sponsorships
Since its inception, the Kendall Gill Golf Benefit has raised more than $850,000 for youth at Cunningham Children’s Home. The event’s success is made possible by long-time sponsors, including Wespath Institutional Investments (supporting for a ninth consecutive year) and Kirby Wealth Management Group/Northwestern Mutual (now in its third year of support).
