CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Former Illinois quarterback Kurt Kittner will serve as the team’s honorary captain against Michigan State on Saturday.

Kittner played all four years at Illinois from 1998-2001. He led Illinois to the 2001 Big Ten title as a senior and took the Illini to the 2002 Sugar Bowl, and a 10-2 record. Kittner left Illinois as the school’s all-time winningest quarterback and holder of four school records: career total offense, career and single season touchdown passes, and career passing attempts.

Kittner was drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
