CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Kylan Boswell, the Champaign native and former Edison Junior High standout, confirmed his return to Illinois for the 2025-26 basketball season following the team’s NCAA tournament loss to Kentucky. Boswell, who made a big impact in his first season back home, reaffirmed his commitment to the Illini, joining Ty Rodgers, who announced his return earlier this week.
Boswell’s decision comes as Illinois faces significant changes, with multiple players, including Tre White and Morez Johnson Jr., entering the transfer portal. Despite this, Boswell’s return is a crucial positive for the Illini, especially after his standout performance last season, averaging 12.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
Illinois will now look to build a new roster around Boswell and fellow returnee Ty Rodgers, as they aim to fill the gaps left by key departures. Boswell’s growth over the final stretch of the season—averaging 16.9 points and leading the Illini through important games—sets him up as a cornerstone for the upcoming year.
