On Friday morning, Illinois State Police (ISP) alerted that recovery efforts will take place due to a damaged semi truck on I-57 North just north of Milepost 246 in Champaign County between Champaign and Rantoul.
They said the right lane will be blocked for several hours, and motorists should consider alternate routes. Local traffic is heavily recommended. ISP reminds drivers to use caution when traveling in the area, and to not slow to take pictures or videos.
At 4:34 p.m., ISP detailed that backup is nearing Market street at milepost 240, and again reminded drivers to use caution.
At 5:08 p.m., ISP shared that all lanes were back open after nearly eight hours of delays.
