RANTOUL, IL (Chambana Today) – A violent altercation broke out Wednesday evening between 70-80 cadets at Lincoln’s ChalleNGe Academy in Rantoul, prompting a massive law enforcement response. The Rantoul Police Department received the report of the fight shortly after 6 p.m., and within minutes, Police units from various local agencies were dispatched to the scene. According to Rantoul’s Chief of Police, Anthony Brown, officers from nearly every department in Champaign County were involved in controlling the situation.

At least six cadets have been detained, and a few others were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the altercation. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported.

Authorities are now reviewing video footage to identify the instigators and those who may have committed criminal acts during the fight. The situation remains under investigation, with law enforcement working to piece together the events that led to the chaos.

The academy, known for its military-style program, has yet to release further details, and the situation is ongoing as authorities continue to investigate.
