CLINTON, IL (Chambana Today) – Illinois Extension is inviting you to learn how you can support pollinators in your backyard!

Monarch butterflies and hummingbirds are among the many pollinators that play a vital role in maintaining the health of our ecosystems, and understanding how to support and protect them is essential. The University of Illinois Extension at the Weldon Springs State Park School House for Pollinators in the Park is hosting three events this fall to help you learn how to help these winged creatures.

Pollinators in the Park is a three-session program hosted by the DeWitt County Master Gardeners. Each session runs from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Weldon Springs State Park School house, located at 4734 Weldon Springs Road in Clinton.

July 26: Hummingbirds 

Discover the fascinating ruby-throated hummingbird, its preferred habitats, plants and flowers, along with feeding tips.

August 23: Butterflies

Learn about common butterflies in Illinois, their anatomy, and life cycle along with habitat elements of a butterfly garden.

September 13: Pollinator Gardens

Learn how to choose native plants and design a pollinator pocket garden.
