CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – After 12 years of serving the Champaign-Urbana area with their unique approach to an American breakfast staple, the family behind Pandamonium Doughnuts has announced that they will be closing up shop by the end of the month.

“This choice comes from a desire to spend more time with our growing family and to be present for the moments that mean the most,” they said in their announcement via Instagram. “With that in mind, an opportunity appeared and we decided this was the right time to make this decision. As anyone who has run a small business knows, it takes an incredible amount of time, dedication, and sacrifice. We’ve poured our hearts into this journey, but now, we’re ready to shift our focus to a new chapter — one centered on family, connection, and being fully present for those we love the most.”

Pandamonium, which first started in 2013 as a hobby by owners James and Marci, is most well-known for its artisan, all-natural approach to donuts. The shop’s website states a commitment to fresh, organic, and local when available ingredients with no preservatives.

“We are also one of the few entirely-made-from-scratch doughnut bakeries in all of Illinois and the ONLY true, made from scratch doughnut bakery in not only Champaign-Urbana, and Savoy, but Central Illinois!” they say. “Which means all our doughnuts are artisan-handmade and created from scratch during the very early morning hours daily using our own unique recipes and techniques utilizing high-quality, fresh ingredients every day. We still use the same recipes we developed in our home kitchen in 2013 today, so there are no other doughnuts like ours in the entire country as these are our own creations.”

While located in the Windsor Galleria on 1105 Windsor Road in Champaign next to Sun Singer, Pandamonium has also been known for its on-campus presence through its food truck for over a decade. The food truck, parked in front of the Krannert Center in Urbana, will also be ceasing operations by the end of the month.

Pandamonium was voted to have the best donuts in the Champaign-Urbana area for six straight years from 2017-22 by Illini Radio Group, the News-Gazette, and Buzz Magazine.

The store and food truck will remain open until closing at the end of the month. More information can be found at the Pandamonium Doughnuts website.
