CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – A 21-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after being shot while driving through an alley near the 1400 block of Clock Street late Saturday night, June 7.
Champaign Police were first dispatched around 10:38 p.m. to the area near Giboney Street and Tower Street following reports of gunfire. Roughly 10 minutes later, the victim arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to the arm and torso. Medical staff provided immediate care, and the man is currently in stable condition.
Police later identified a scene in the 1400 block of Clock Street with evidence consistent with gunfire, including damage to at least one vehicle. Initial findings suggest the man was targeted by unknown individuals while driving through an alley, and his vehicle came under fire.
Officers remained on the scene for several hours, collecting physical evidence and canvassing the area for witnesses or surveillance footage that may aid the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
