MONTICELLO, IL (Chambana Today) – Homeowners interested in enhancing their landscapes with native plants are invited to attend the next installment of the Growing Community program series, hosted by the DeWitt and Piatt County Master Gardeners.

The August session, titled “Grasses in the Home Landscape,” will take place at noon on Monday, August 19, at the Piatt County Extension Office, located at 210 S. Market St. in Monticello.

This free workshop will spotlight four easy-to-grow native grasses, with a focus on planning, care techniques, and how these grasses can both support pollinators and boost the visual appeal of home gardens.

Advance registration is requested by August 18 and can be completed online at go.illinois.edu/GrowingCommunity.

The program is part of the University of Illinois Extension’s mission to provide inclusive, educational opportunities for the public. Those needing reasonable accommodations to participate are encouraged to call 217-762-2191 as early as possible to ensure access needs are met.
