Auditor: Prepares and administers records for county funds and accounts the various departments and verifies the validity of all disbursements

Geoge Danos (D): As the first CPA elected Champaign County Auditor, Danos has increased transparency by publicizing all county contracts and assets. His Facebook profile states, “I have brought rigor to both the auditing of expenditures and the creation of annual reports (three CAFRs in two years). 

Circuit Clerk: The primary duty of the circuit clerk is maintaining court records, collecting fees and fines, and processing paperwork.
Susan W. McGrath (D): A citizen in Champaign County since 1976, McGrath graduated from the University of Illinois with a BA in Political Science in 1978 and received her JD from the Illinois College of Law in 1982. She was in private practice from 1982 to 2005, followed by the civil division, and most recently the support enforcement division, of the State’s Attorney’s Office 2005.
Coroner:  A coroner is an elected county official responsible for determining the cause of death of someone within their jurisdiction.
Laurie Brauer (D): Spending the majority of her career at the intersection of healthcare and public safety, Laurie bring’s her unique perspective to the role. Her background includes Deputy Coroner since 2021, Nationally Registered and State Licensed Emergency Medical Technician, and EMT and CPR Instructor
Seon Williams (D): As a lifelong resident and a lifelong Democrat of Champaign County. Mr. Williams graduated from Urbana High School in 1987 and later dedicated six years to the US Army’s 4th Psychological Warfare Unit at Ft Bragg, NC. Returning to the CU area, he initiated a legacy of community service through Community Collaboration. His military background, entrepreneurship, and unwavering commitment showcase his vital role in building a successful and vibrant Champaign County. Seon will use his collective experience to continue proudly serving the community and make history as the first African American Coroner in Champaign County.
Steve Thuney (R): Steve has served as the Chief Deputy Coroner at the Champaign County Coroner’s Office since 2010 under the leadership of retired Coroner, Duane E. Northrup. Steve has completed over 500 hundred hours of training in death investigation and has conducted approximately five thousand death investigations. Steve is a member of the Illinois Coroners & Medical Examiners Association, International Association of Coroner’s & Medical Examiners, International Association of Arson Investigators, Past Secretary of the Fraternal Order of Police – Illini Lodge 17, Illinois Fire Chief’s Association, Past Vice President of the Champaign County Fire Chief’s Association, and Past President of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System – Division 28.
States Attorney: Prosecutes all criminal and traffic cases in the Circuit Court and initiates all dependency, neglect, abuse and delinquency juvenile petitions and proceedings.

Julia Rietz (D) has served as the Champaign County state’s attorney since 2004 and is currently serving her third term in office. A 1993 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, she began her legal career as a prosecutor in the State’s Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases ranging from traffic to homicides, and focusing on child abuse and neglect. From 1999 through 2004, Julia was in private practice as a partner at Beckett & Webber in Urbana, focusing on family law.
