CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Scouts will be able to earn merit badges at the William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College this fall. The Boy Scouts of America will host an Astronomy Merit Badge workshop on Tuesday, October 15 from 6:30 – 9 p.m. The cost is $6 per scout. Girl Scouts are being offered Space Science Badge workshops for Daisies and Brownies on Monday, November 4 from 6–7:30 p.m. and the Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors on Tuesday, November 12 from 6–7:30 p.m. The cost is $8 per Scout (includes a patch).
Scouts must bring a pencil or pen and a flashlight covered with red plastic/cellophane. They will receive a booklet based on requirements. The workshop will cover the badge requirements, and Scouts will submit the completed work booklet to their troops to receive the badge.
