DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) – A 46-year-old Danville man died Wednesday afternoon following a collision between his motorcycle and a Honda CRV at the intersection of S. Gilbert Street and Bluff Street, authorities reported.
At approximately 12:10 p.m. on May 28, Danville Police responded to reports of a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist with severe injuries. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the man to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Initial investigation revealed that an 80-year-old Danville woman was driving a Honda CRV southbound on Gilbert Street and attempted to make a left turn onto Bluff Street. The motorcyclist, who was traveling northbound, collided with the CRV when it turned in front of him. The driver of the CRV remained at the scene and was not injured.
Following a joint investigation by Danville Police, the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team, and the Illinois Department of Transportation, the woman was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way.
The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
