CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, IL (Chambana Today) – A collision on IL-130 northbound near Old Church Road Tuesday evening claimed the life of a motorcyclist, prompting an outpouring of grief across the community.
According to preliminary information from Illinois State Police Troop 7, the accident occurred when a motorcycle and a pickup truck collided. The motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened just south of Philo in eastern Champaign County and led to the closure of IL-130 for several hours as investigators worked through the night to reconstruct the scene. All lanes reopened around 1:07 a.m. Wednesday.
No further details about the cause of the crash or the condition of the driver of the pickup truck have been released at this time. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
