Danville, IL (Chambana Today) – As families in Vermilion County gear up for the new school year, OSF HealthCare is making it easier for students to get the care they need. This Thursday, July 31, the OSF Care-a-Van, a mobile health unit, will be parked at the Vermilion County Health Department, located at 200 S. College St. in Danville, for a Back to School Bash from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The event is free to attend and will offer school physical exams by OSF pediatricians for $35, or at no cost with insurance. Financial assistance is also available. These exams are required by the State of Illinois for students entering Kindergarten, sixth, and ninth grades, as well as those participating in school sports.
In addition to physicals, the event will feature vaccinations for all ages provided by the Health Department, along with giveaways and resources from local community partners.
The OSF Care-a-Van, launched in 2022 with support from the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation, aims to provide accessible healthcare and education to underserved communities. By taking services directly into neighborhoods, OSF hopes to build lasting relationships and improve public health outcomes.
