URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The family of David and Katie Parkhill has donated $1 million to Mills Breast Cancer Institute, a transformative gift announced during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to enhance patient care, technology, and support services.
The donation establishes the Katie Parkhill and Family Fund, honoring Katie’s life and battle with breast cancer. The fund will help expand 3D mammography and advanced imaging, improve surgical technology, and grow the nurse navigator program that provides personalized care and emotional support to patients.
“Through Katie’s journey, we saw how powerful advanced technology and compassionate care can be,” said David Parkhill. “This gift honors her memory and ensures others receive the same strength and support.”
The donation is a lead gift in The Campaign for Carle Health — a $60 million initiative aimed at improving healthcare across the region. Carle officials say the Parkhill family’s generosity will leave a lasting impact for years to come.
