CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Parkland College’s Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to approve a transfer agreement with the University of Illinois Springfield, making it easier for Parkland students to complete their four-year degrees.

The Transfer Drive Program, recently launched by the University of Illinois System, gives community college students access to a dedicated transfer coordinator, milestone-based financial support and coordinated advising between Parkland and UIS. The agreement runs through June 30, 2029.

Trustees also approved a contract with Carle Hospital for athletic training services totaling $31,830 for the 2026-27 academic year. The agreement covers daily therapy and rehabilitation sessions for student athletes, along with concussion protocol and event coverage.

In other business, the board approved a $157,000 bid for A-Wing HVAC upgrades, a new book fee schedule, and an academic software license. Trustees also authorized grant applications to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and the Illinois Community College Board, and approved several new staff appointments.
