CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College will host interactive badge workshops for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts later this month.
The Girl Scouts Space Science Badge workshops will take place for Daisies and Brownies on Wednesday, October 29 from 6–7:30 p.m. Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will have their workshop on Thursday, October 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. The cost per Scout is $7, and includes a booklet based on the requirements and patch.
The Boy Scouts of America Astronomy Merit Badge workshop is on Monday, November 3 from 6:30-9 p.m. The cost is $6 per Scout, which includes a booklet based on requirements.
These sessions are workshops, not just a show. Scouts must bring a pencil or pen and a flashlight covered with red plastic/cellophane. The workshops will cover the badge requirements. Scouts will submit the completed work booklet to their scout office to receive the badge.
Advanced registration is required. The deadline is a week prior to the chosen workshop. There will be no registration taken at the door. Participants should register online and complete one form per Scout and leader.
The planetarium requires a minimum number of registrations to conduct the workshop. In case of cancellation, refunds will be issued.
