CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Gourmet Trends Kitchen, an establishment on Sheldon, Illinois, is recalling approximately 800 pounds of a “Pork Belly for Grilling” product due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection (IDOA BMPI) announced earlier this week. The product contains wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The products were produced on various dates over the last year, with production dates listed above the product name. The following production dates are included in the recall:
04/16/25, 05/07/25, 05/28/25, 08/20/25, 09/10/25, 10/22/25, 10/28/25, 10/29/25, 11/28/25, 02/04/26
Less than 50 pounds of this two-pound product were sold at Fresh International Market (Champaign location only) and Caddy Shack (Sheldon, Ill.). The remainder was distributed directly by Gourmet Trends Kitchen.
The issue was discovered during a routine inspection visit to the establishment. No confirmed adverse reactions have been reported due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
IDOA reminds consumers to check their freezers for the product. Those who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. If you have any of these products, you are encouraged to contact Gourmet Trends or return the product to the place of purchase.
