CHAMPAIGN-URBANA (Chambana Today) – 2024 CU Pride Fest kicks off this Sunday, September 15 with educational events, parties, youth and family programs, a parade, and a fair. The event has programs each day and evening, ending with a Sunday morning brunch on September 22.
Sponsored in part by Illini Media Group‘s Mix 94.5, Morning Show host Callie Luttman has hosted the Drag Extravaganza the last few years and looks forward to continuing her involvement. “It’s been an honor to host this event in the past because it brings me joy to MC an event where members of the LGBTQIA+ and allies alike celebrate each other. It is always such a fun night where everyone can be themselves and ultimately come together for the greatest cause of raising funds for Uniting Pride of Champaign County. I believe it a life-saving resource in our community.”
Uniting Pride of Champaign County’s mission is to “lead in the creation of a community where all who hold historically and actively marginalized gender and sexual identities can live fulfilling, joyful, healthy, and vibrant lives.”
The organization hosts social and support groups, education and training, and a food pantry, to name a few of the benefits they add to the community.
Luttman says “Uniting Pride of Champaign County has so many educational resources and great places to go, learn more, feel seen, and have community.”
