URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Park District Board of Commissioners has announced the hiring of Rachel Lenz, Executive Director of the Macomb Park District, as the new Executive Director of the Urbana Park District. Lenz will officially assume her new role on May 21, succeeding long-time director Tim Bartlett, who is retiring after a 33-year career with the district.
Lenz has led the Macomb Park District since 2017, where she has been recognized for her commitment to inclusive and innovative recreational programming. She brings with her a strong professional background, including certifications as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a Park and Recreation Professional. She also holds a Master of Science in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration. Beyond her career in parks and recreation, Lenz is also an NCAA women’s college basketball official.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Urbana Park District, a community where the words ‘You Belong Here’ are lived out with heart and purpose,” Lenz said in a statement. “This belief — that every person has a place and a voice here — is something I hold close and am committed to advancing. I am grateful for the leadership and impact Tim Bartlett has brought to this District, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation.”
Tim Bartlett has served as Executive Director since 2014 and is credited with numerous achievements during his tenure. His retirement marks the end of a distinguished 33-year career with the Urbana Park District.
