RANTOUL, IL (Chambana Today) – The Rantoul Police Department has identified 25-year-old Henry J. Carr of Rantoul as the suspect arrested Tuesday in connection to the stabbing of an eight-year-old boy.
According to police, Carr was located near the scene of the stabbing and was taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Following an interview, Carr was booked into the Champaign County Jail.
He faces preliminary charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated domestic battery resulting in great bodily harm, and resisting a peace officer. As of now, court records show he has not been formally charged.
Carr has a history of domestic violence-related arrests. In 2022, he was booked twice for domestic battery—one case resulted in charges that were later dropped in a plea deal involving a separate weapons case. He also served a three-year sentence for escaping electronic monitoring. Just two weeks ago, Carr was booked again for domestic battery, though no charges were filed.
This latest incident, involving a child, is under active investigation. Police have not yet released an update on the boy’s medical condition.
