CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Blues and rock icon Robert Cray will take the stage at the historic Virginia Theatre on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Cray, a five-time Grammy Award winner, has built a career blending blues, soul and rock into a distinctive sound that has influenced generations of musicians. Over the years, he has performed and recorded with legendary artists including B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.

Inspired early on after seeing The Beatles on television and watching Jimi Hendrix perform in Seattle, Cray went on to carve out a career that earned him induction into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance in 2017.

In addition to his musical accolades, Cray had an uncredited role in the 1978 film National Lampoon’s Animal House.
