The Illinois Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Champaign County Highway Department, announces that on June 3, stop signs will be installed on Royal Road             (CR 2100 N) at the intersection of St. Joe Road (CR 2200 E), approximately 4 miles west of Royal in Champaign County.

The new stop signs on Royal Road will convert the intersection to a four-way stop, meaning traffic on all four legs of the intersection will now have to stop.

Currently, traffic does not have to stop on Royal Road at this intersection.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
