URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – On Tuesday, July 8, State Senator Paul Faraci was formally presented with the 2025 Vince Demuzio Legislator of the Year Award by the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies (IACAA) during a special ceremony at the Regional Planning Commission (RPC) offices in Urbana.
The award, accepted earlier this year on Faraci’s behalf by RPC CEO Dalitso Sulamoyo during IACAA’s Annual Convention, honors elected officials who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the interests of low-income Illinois residents.
“Your leadership in passing SB 691, which empowered all 24 Regional Planning Commissions to secure property ownership, and your sponsorship of HB 4471, which safeguarded vital energy assistance funding, have made a lasting impact,” Sulamoyo said during the ceremony.
Faraci was recognized not only for legislative achievements but for his responsiveness, advocacy, and long-standing dedication to community empowerment.
The award is named after Senator Vince Demuzio, who served in the Illinois Senate from 1975 until his death in 2004. Known for championing the needs of underserved communities, Demuzio left a legacy of public service that the award seeks to carry on.
The event included remarks from Sulamoyo, Senator Faraci, and Roger Pavey, President & CEO of IACAA.
