CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Champaign County will be holding emergency blood drives in wake of a national platelet and blood shortage. The American Red Cross is asking donors of all blood types to give now to keep blood supply levels rising after a summer shortage. Type O blood donors and those giving platelets are especially needed.
As National Preparedness Month continues, the Red Cross stresses the importance of having a supply of blood products on hand for disasters and emergencies, but most importantly, to meet the needs of patients every day.
